This is definitely true of being in PR. People don't realize how important writing really is, but I think if you have better writing skills than someone else with all the same qualifications, you'll get the job over them! Thanks for the article!

I see what you mean Teresa. I too am close to graduating and wonder where my time here went. The difference is that I wasn't very involved. It's good that you were. When we go into the workforce, we are going to need most of the skills that OSU has…

Although I have one year before graduating, I can’t help but wonder where the time goes? When I was a freshman at OSU, it felt like ages before I would finally graduate and enter “the real world” and have a “real job” and make “real money.” Now, I…

I completely agree. I used Socially Orange when I was taking JB4520. I stopped for a few months, but now I'm finding it to be a great resource for JB info and connecting with people and content that I otherwise would not. Possible internships or net…

You're post is so true! I've been in all the same classes with the same people for three years. I recognize them, but I don't know their name. I'm hesitant to ask them their name because if I recognize them, I'm sure they recognize me, too and it's…

Thanks for the insight! I'm in the process of trying to find an internship and I'm not sure what to expect. I've heard so many stories about internships not turning out to be what the intern expected. What a great opportunity for you to sit in on th…

This article is very interesting to me because I personally use twitter for "social" purposes with my friends. I never thought of twitter as a way to reach an audience or anything like that. I understand that businesses would use twitter in such a w…

I believe there are many ways the JB School can use Socially Orange to benefit both students and faculty. When students enroll in their first JB course, which is usually JB 1143, it should be a requirement to create an account. By doing so, students…

What I've Inherited

This past Wednesday, I attended Ron Schultz lecture about Marketing and Communications. At the beginning of his lecture, he apologized to students for leaving his generations problems behind for our generation
to solve. He said, all he could do is wish us luck for the future.

So, why did Schultz feel the need to wish us luck? He cited the fact that our marketing and communication models were created in the 1930s and based on training dogs and pigeons, but more importantly,

PR E-mails Ignored Too Long.

So, I received an e-mail about a month ago from PR News offering me a trial subscription. At first, I was excited, expecting the e-mails maybe once a week. Well, they actually came every day, usually two or
three e-mails instead of just one.

As my inbox become more full, I began deleting the e-mails without even reading them. I mean, I had more important e-mails to attend to right?

Social Media Fright

As I was surfing the Web at work, I came across an article by Amber Singleton Riviere detailing her fear of Social Media. In her blog, she mentioned how overwhelmed social-networking sites, specifically Twitter, made
her feel.

"As I scrolled through the conversations, I started feeling overwhelmed and wondered, 'How am I going to figure this out? I don’t get these conversations or even want to follow most of them, so how will I ever
participate?”' s

My Future is Looking Bright.

Being a PR major , I'm unofficially required to have at least two internships under my belt if I want to land a great job after graduation. This little fact has stressed me out since my freshman year. Here it is, the second semester of my junior year and I still haven't had the opportunity to intern with a company. Sure I've been involved in student organizations and took every on-campus opportunity that offered PR experience, and while that's great, I still want a
