I had never thought about the different prices of things in different countries being such an issue. It's exciting that you got the opportunity to be in a different place and get a different outlook on the industry. Good Luck to you and what you do…

So I have a week left in Europe and I am trying so hard to remember the US as I left it. Of course I remember what everything looks like, but I can’t for the life of me remember: What prices of some products were? What did the ads look like when I w…

I completely agree. I am in Italy right now studying abroad and I found the transition really hard at first because I only had one semester of Italian. I kept trying to reach for the familiar and was really hard to find because I couldn't read signs…

It's very interesting that some companies will change the language and faces of commercials here in the United States like McDonalds...me encanta. But some will just leave it in English and not take into account the local languages and cultures of o…

Being in Europe for a semester, it's interesting to hear you talk about what the effects of Social Media are doing to commercials. I am excited to come home and see just how far things have come in only 3 months.

What an interesting blog. I never knew the U.S. had that much impact on language in Sweden. Advertising and marketing has a bigger influence on culture than I thought. I can imagine you will miss Europe when you get back to the States. What has bee…

What? and How?

So I have a week left in Europe and I am trying so hard to remember the US as I left it. Of course I remember what everything looks like, but I can’t for the life of me remember: What prices of some products were? What did the ads look like when I was there this summer? What was that campaign that just came out before I left that I really liked?

However, I can tell you all about the passing fads here in Europe and what good prices for certain products are. I know that I am going to have to trai… Continue

Bittersweet Europe

So I am looking at a calendar and I realize I have been in Europe for exactly 3 months; I also realize that I leave in two weeks. Part of me wonders where the time has gone, but part of me is so excited to go home.

I think about everything that I have done and everything that I have experienced. Looking back I have learned so much, not only as me as a person, but also about life, and especially advertising and marketing.

I have visited a lot of places and every place is a little different. I l… Continue

"Swenglish"

So, now that I have less then a month left in Europe, I feel compelled to absorb as much as I can about their culture – as far as advertising, marketing, and business goes.

As I am sitting in my marketing class (yes, I am doing homework in another class) my professor is currently talking about Sweden. He told us that Sweden is loosing their language. The English language has had such a huge impact in their country, that they hardly ever use Swedish anymore. All of their ads are in English, they… Continue

A good idea, or a way to get arrested

OK, sorry it has been a while, but two weeks of midterms kill me every time. Back to marketing and advertising in Europe though. Two things that have really stood out to me in the last two months is 1) wow, it’s been months and 2) what is up with all the graffiti? Everywhere you walk around Rome, there is graffiti everywhere. If there is an empty space anywhere, whether it is on a wall or a monument, there is some little tag done by someone expressing themselves.

While it is frowned upon to do… Continue

The shrinking of the world

Rome never ceases to amaze me. You know what, Europe as a whole never ceases to amaze me. They are all so affected by the culture and climate of their neighboring country. I tend to forget that Europe is a cluster of countries and not just one country with several different states. However, if you were take a good look at their advertising, you would think that it was the United States of Europe. All of their ads transfer so well to other countries in Europe. I think back at advertising in the U… Continue
